I guess it's been awhile since I've posted anything. My life is way too boring!! lol This may be a long post to catch you all up...
Anyway, I've started working nights recently, and I love it and hate it!! I love the feeling of knowing I'm helping my hubby to provide for our family. I love knowing that we'll be able to pay off lines of credit, and eventually be able to double up on our mortgage payments (eventually, school shopping will come first though. lol). I do kind of enjoy the "adult" time I get when I'm at work. Now, the I hate it parts... I hate being away from my family in the evenings! We decided that I'd work evenings so that hubby would be home by then, and we wouldn't have to put R in daycare at any point. I'm use to our evenings together though, so I really miss that down time at night. I'm a cashier at a grocery store, so I HATE being on my feet for 5-6 hours (8 on weekends). I have bad feet, and my left foot is killing me lately. I mean, killing me to the point that I've seen the doctor and he's referred me to an orthopedic surgeon to see what is going on with my feet. I sometimes hate dealing with customers and/or my co-workers. They aren't all bad, and even the bad ones are sometimes okay, but some days, I just don't want to deal with any of them!! lol
We also had R evaluated last month for speech therapy. It was decided that he has about a 20% delay for his age (he should be saying more words and putting words together to form 2 word sentences, but he's not) and so we are going forward with speech therapy. He had his first session today, and I think it went well. It's mostly the therapist trying to find ways to help us encourage R to talk, and to teach him ways to communicate with us without him getting frustrated, or always grunting to us when he wants things. I know some people feel he'll talk when he's ready, but honestly, there is no harm in having an outside person come in to talk to him and get him to open up more. She will hopefully be the encouragement he needs to really take off with his talking. Maybe soon I'll be posting that he won't shut up!! lol
I've also started becoming what some people call "crunchy." I started making our laundry soap about 4 or so months ago, and I love it. I've only had to make 2 batches so far, and we still have some left, and still have ALL the supplies left to make another batch soon. All this for maybe $7, so yeah, its very worth it!! lol This weekend, I mixed up my first batch of homemade deodorant. I don't like the idea that I'm constantly putting chemicals and metals under my arms, which can lead to cancer and other issues, so I'm trying alternatives. I must say, I love how it feels and how it works. I went to work Sunday with it, and although I sweated a little during work (I still think I sweated less than normal), I never smelled anything but the coconut oil I used to make it. I think it's something I'll stick with. It doesn't cost much, seems to work great, and who doesn't love the smell of coconuts?! lol I'm thinking I'll try going without shampoo next so I can get my scalp re-calibrated and maybe it'll stop producing so much oil!!
Well, that's enough for now. Maybe I'll have something more to say to you all soon. But if not, hopefully this post was enough to last you until I post again :)
ohhh recipe for deodorant please!! Lol! :)
ReplyDeleteZenaida, I'll do a post soon with the recipe.
DeleteCrunchy/frugal...they can go hand in hand!
ReplyDeleteI do the "no 'poo" thing on a regular basis. It definitely has helped with my oily hair. I still use shampoo/conditioner but I'm able to go several days (even weeks) with just my baking soda routine.
Klaw is slightly delayed with speech, too, but we've opted to just wait it out. I didn't talk & evidently my dad didn't talk a lot, either, as a toddler. Our pediatrician said we could go either way with therapy or not and it not be a "wrong" decision, especially since this may just be a family thing lol.
Yep, I prefer frugal, but it seems people like the term crunchy better most of the time. haha I'm trying to wean myself from the shampoo. My hair is crazy oily, so I've only been washing it every other day, and I've dropped to an obscenely tiny amount, so it barely even suds up, but it's enough to clean a bit of the oil from my hair. Hopefully, this will work still. lol
DeleteWe decided to go ahead with Rahmad in speech, because he's only around us all day. He's not in daycare, we haven't done any playgroups and we're rarely around other people. I figured this would give him a chance to interact with someone else, and encourage him to talk some. He actually seemed to enjoy the lady's attention and spoke some for her, so hopefully it'll be the push he needs to get him using his voice more :)
